Connections
BookConnections will support meaningful connections across an entire fictional world—not just one book.
Planned ways to connect
- Characters ↔ characters: families, loyalties, alliances, conflict, and evolving relationships
- Characters ↔ places: residence, travel, and important scenes
- Characters ↔ events: roles, experiences, consequences and changing knowledge
- Items ↔ characters: ownership, use, loss, and acquisition
- Events ↔ events: chronology and causal relationships
- Themes ↔ stories: supported interpretations across arcs and series
- Tropes ↔ characters or stories: recognizable patterns and how they evolve
- Narrative Craft ↔ chapters or themes: documented examples of storytelling techniques
One source of truth
A character appearing in multiple books will retain a single profile and permanent identifier. Its relationships, developments, and appearances will carry the book, chapter, or story context needed to explain each connection.
Spoiler-aware exploration
The intended experience will eventually allow readers to view relationships and analysis only up to their reading progress. Standard Quartz graph links alone do not enforce chapter-aware spoilers or account-based filtering. These features are planned for later custom development.
